As a rule translating agencies use the following units of measurement of texts volume to be translated:

- 1 page (one standard page is equal to 1800 characters spaces included or 1500 characters spaces excluded);

The volume of source text to be translated is measured in characters using the 'Word Count' function in the 'Tools' menu of the Microsoft Word application. If the text has another format (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.), we use the special-purpose software (PractiCount & Invoice) for characters count.

- 1 word (250 words are equal to 1 page);

Text volume is measured in words using the 'Word Count' function in the 'Tools' menu of the Microsoft Word application. Sometimes we need to use specialized software (PractiCount & Invoice) to count words if the text executed in other programs (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, AutoCad, etc.)

- 1author's sheet (it is equal to 40000 characters spaces included).

In most cases the procedure of volume measurement is applied to the source text, based on which the customer can accurately calculate the payment amount when placing the order. Nevertheless, when source materials for translation are submitted in an electronic format which precludes volume measurement or in a printed form the precise text volume is established for the target text using the above-mentioned method.

When translating documents for notary certification (legalization) the measurement unit is one page of the document. As far as interpreting is concerned, 1 hour as the measurement unit is used. If we work in the city of Minsk just quantity of hours is calculated within half an hour accuracy. If our translator supposed to work in another city or country all the expenses connected with transfer, accommodation and meal expenses are additionally covered by a Customer.

At fulfilling desktop publishing works one page of electronic document is counted as the measurement unit.
