The volume of source text to be translated is measured in characters using the option 'Word Count' in the drop-down menu 'Tools' of the Microsoft Word application.
If the text has another format (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.), we use the special-purpose software PractiCount & Invoice for character count.
This counting system is in many respects objective since regardless of the font size, line spacing, number of images on the page and other external factors the number of characters in the text and its volume, accordingly, remains invariable. In this case one standard page is equal to 1800 characters spaces included or 1500 characters spaces excluded. The minimum order is one standard page.
In most cases the procedure of volume measurement is applied to the source text which allows you to know the exact volume and price of the order when placing it. However, if the electronic format of the source material does not allow making the count or if it is a hard copy, the exact text volume is established for the target text using the method above.
When translating documents for notary certification (legalization) the measurement unit is one page of the document. When rendering additional services such as, for example, assistance in notary certification of translations, certification of the authenticity of copies, documents legalization (Apostille) by state bodies of the Republic of Belarus, the measurement unit is one document irrespective of the number of pages.
The measurement unit for oral translation is 1 hour. If the order is executed in the city of Minsk, we count the actual number of hours accurate within one-half hour. If by your request our interpreter leaves for another city (country), the Customer pays the additional travel costs including tickets, accomodation costs, meals, articles of prime necessity.
The unit for page editing/make-up is one page of an electronic document. The price of the make-up is subject to negotiations.
When ordering the make-up of html-pages and multimedia objects and creation of corporate site mirrors in foreign languages the unit is 1 working hour of the web-designer. For the localization of software using special-purpose programs the cost estimate is generally based on the word count.
